A favorite spot to stop in is at the historic Drier's Meat Market.
This old fashioned butcher shop opened prior to the outbreak of the
Civil War and is recognized as a historic place. The Drier family
still makes and smokes their own sausage, ham and bologna in the
back room.
BRIEF HISTORY
The village was first settled by Henry Chamberlain in 1850. Mr. Chamberlain
gave the small community its name in reference to three massive oak
trees that stood near a town rail crossing. Three Oaks was linked to
the rest of our current Harbor Country communities by the timber and
bricks which were shipped to Chicago and other Great Lakes cities.
And, of course, there was the railroad. The crews aboard The Central
Michigan Railroad passing through the village also took note of the
large oak trees.
Recently, Three Oaks' was the location of where the Christmas movie "Prancer" was
filmed on location.
